Getting started with xVirtuous

Everything you need to set up your assistant and get the most out of it.

Install on your phone

Open app.xvirtuous.com and sign in with your email. Then add it to your home screen so it opens like an app:

  • iPhone (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android (Chrome): tap the menu, then Install app.
  • Computer (Chrome or Edge): click the install icon in the address bar.
On iPhone, notifications only work after the app is added to the Home Screen.

Name your assistant

The first time you sign in, you'll choose a name, for example Marta Violeta. Your assistant introduces itself with it, and notifications say who they're from. Change it any time in You → About you.

Connect your calendar

In You → Connections, tap Connect next to Google Calendar and allow access. xVirtuous asks for two things only: your email address (to show which account is connected) and your calendar events. It can't see Gmail, Drive or contacts.

When you ask for a change, your assistant shows a card with Confirm and Cancel. Nothing changes until you confirm. If you invite people, they get Google's normal invitation email.

What to ask

  • "What's on my calendar this week?"
  • "Schedule lunch with Dan on Thursday at 1 pm at Tartine."
  • "Move my 3 pm meeting to Friday morning."
  • "Remind me tomorrow at 9 am to call the bank."
  • "Is it going to rain in San Francisco tomorrow?"
  • "Find flights from SFO to Tokyo, December 9 to 19."

Talk naturally. If something is unclear, your assistant asks.

Reminders and notifications

Reminders are set right away and arrive as a phone notification at the time you asked. Turn notifications on in You → Connections → Notifications. See and cancel upcoming reminders in the Agenda tab.

Voice

Tap the microphone next to the message box and speak; your message sends when you stop. Your assistant reads its answer aloud when you used the microphone. Change this in You → Voice: when to read aloud, which voice, and how fast. Every answer also has a Listen button.

Voice works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. It uses the voices built into your device.

Flights Plus

Ask for flights in plain words. You'll see the best options (Cheapest, Fastest and Best value) with times, stops, flight numbers and the airline that operates each flight, plus delay risk and travel advisories for your trip.

Each option has Book on [airline] and See on Google Flights buttons. xVirtuous doesn't book or charge anything. Prices can change on the booking site.

Memory

Tell your assistant your preferences ("I like aisle seats", "No meetings before 10 on Mondays") and it remembers them. See and delete what it remembers in You → Memory.

Plans and limits

  • Free: calendar, reminders, voice, 30 messages a day and one free flight search.
  • Plus ($9.99/month): flight search and compare (20 a day), 200 messages a day, and the morning market brief with stock alerts.

Privacy and control

  • Disconnect Google Calendar any time in the app, or from your Google account's third-party access page.
  • Clear your chat in You → App.
  • To delete your account and data, write to privacy@xvirtuous.com.
